Abbey Life Church Story
In the book of Nehemiah, we see how God called Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Similarly, God has called us to plant a church with the heart and vision to rebuild spiritual walls, restoring purpose and hope. Abbey Life Church launched on March 12th at the Courtyard Theatre, Ballyearl, and has been growing ever since, seeing lives transformed by Jesus. Our mission is to help people Follow God, Find Freedom, and Fulfill Purpose.
"Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God." Psalm 92:13 NKJV
Our Desire
"For I know the plans I have for you... plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
God has a plan for you! Our Growth Track is designed to help you discover and develop your purpose to live the full life God has for you.
our Prayer
"So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call..." 2 Thessalonians 1:11 NLT
3-Step Journey
Step 1: Know God
Knowing God and reaching people who don’t know God personally, is one of our greatest priorities. Our Sunday Service is primarily designed to help people at all stages in their spiritual walk to connect with God.
"Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?" Jesus replied, "'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"Matthew 22:36-39 NLT
Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 NLT
Who is Jesus?
The Way, The Creator, The Son, The Savior
In order to know the plan for our lives we need to know our Creator.
Jesus is the way to the Father who is our Creator. God wants to draw us into a close and personal relationship with him so that he can reveal the good plan and purpose he has for us.
THE WAY
Jesus answered, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me." John 14:6 ERV
THE CREATOR
God is our creator! He has created us with a very special feature: "to be like himself," and he has a special plan for our lives. However, sin has the power to separate us from God and all the good plans he has prepared for us.
So God created humans in his own image. He created them to be like himself. He created them male and female. Genesis 1:27 ERV
When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.
Romans 5:12 NLT
THE SON
The bible tells us that God's answer to sin was to send his one and only Son Jesus to earth to show us the heart and nature of God.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV
THE DEATH & RESURRECTION
Jesus died a painful death on the cross, but God raised him back to life three days later. There were many witnesses who confirmed: Jesus is Alive!
"These Jews did all the bad things that the Scriptures said would happen to Jesus. Then they took Jesus down from the cross and put him in a tomb. But God raised him up from death! After this, for many days, those who had gone with Jesus from Galilee to Jerusalem saw him. They are now his witnesses to our people." Acts 13:29-31 ERV
THE RECONCILIATION
The death of Christ in his physical body has made a way to bring us back into relationship with God.
Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. Colossians 1:22 NLT
THE NEW LIFE
God's purpose is to bring life, and that life is good and satisfying.
The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10 NLT
THE SAVIOUR
Jesus is our saviour!
"Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only Dower in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through him!' Acts 4:12 ERV
Life Change & Life with Jesus
LIFE-CHANGE
when we understand and accept that jesus died to bring us back into relationship with God, we receive the greatest gift that God could give us - the Holy Spirit.
1. The Holy Spirit
The greatest gift God can give us is the gift of the Holy Spint.
And now you Gentles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God soves you. And when you beieved in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.
Ephesians 1:13 NLT
2. The Holy Spirit Produces Good Fruit
God's Spirit works in us to produce good fruit, and to use the gifts well.
But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person's life is love, joy. peace, patience, kindness, goodness. faithfulness, gentleness, and sell-control.
Galatians 5:22-23a ERV
3. Use God's Gifts Well
Whatever your gifts are, use them well to build & serve the body of Christ.
God has given each of you gifts from his great variety of spintual gifts. Use them well to serve one another."
1 Peter 4:10 NLT
LIFE WITH JESUS
Finding life with Jesus is so exciting and it means the start of a new journey. This is a new beginning, it's your story told in your own special way. Because we believe your journey of faith is compelling and significant, we encourage you to:
1. Accept personal responsibility. There are people in your life that would love to know about your journey of faith. Why not share it with them in your own natural style?
2. Build a personal relationship. Invite people into your world. People want to know that you are real and that your friendship is genuine.
3. Share your personal story. Because your story is compelling and significant, why not learn to tell your story in three minutes or so?
4. Give a personal invitation. inviting people into your world means inviting them to share in the things that are important to you: things like connect group or church would be great places to extend an invitation to.
"Then the master told his servant. 'Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. Luke 14:23 NIV
Sunday Service Values:
Celebration - We believe church should be enjoyable.
“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’” PSALM 122:1 NLT
Inspiration - We believe church should be a place where people experience God’s presence.
“But…when some unbelievers or ordinary people come in, they will be convinced of their sin by what they hear. They will be judged by all they hear, their secret thoughts will be brought into the open, and they will bow down and worship God, confessing, ‘Truly God is here among you!’” 1 CORINTHIANS 14:24–25 GNT
Application - We believe church should be a place where people learn how the Bible applies to their daily lives.
“So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” EPHESIANS 4:11–12 NLT
Salvation - We believe church should be a place where people can accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
“‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?” ROMANS 10:13–14 NLT
Step 2: Find Freedom
God created us to live in community with others, and it’s only then that we can experience the full life God intends for us. We believe that life change and growth happens in the context of relationships. Life Groups are a place where we can connect with God and with people, which gives us the opportunity to build long-lasting relationships.
"We pray that the Lord will make your love grow more and more, and that you will love each other and everyone else as we love you. Then your hearts will be strong and holy, and you will be blameless before our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones." 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 ERV
LIFE GROUPS
Whether you’re exploring faith, simply new to Abbey Life Church or you have been a Jesus follower for a while now, finding the next step for you is simple.
"And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ." Acts 5:42 NKJV
"You can’t know everybody but you can know somebody.”
Life Group Goals:
The purpose of Life Groups is simple: to bring people together in a safe and friendly environment where they can grow together and have fun in the process.
A FUN place to connect
We were not made to do life alone; God created us for community. Connect Groups provide a fun place for you to connect with others, share life, and grow in faith together.
A place to GROW together
We believe every person is created with God-given potential to make a difference in the world. Life Group is a place you can grow with others to become more like Jesus and reach the potential God has put inside you.
A FRIENDLY environment
When we do life together, our problems become smaller as God uses others to bring support and encouragement to our lives. Connect Groups become a place where others don't just know your name but care about what is happening in your life and want to support you in your spiritual journey.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ABBEY LIFE GROUPS:

Step 3: Fulfill Purpose
he Apostle Peter had a revelation about Jesus: "He is the Son of the living God." Jesus is committed to building his church on this revelation. In fact, the church is the only thing God is building on the earth. This is why it's so exciting for us to be part of the local church.
Then he asked them, "But who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." Jesus replied, "You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means 'rock'), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
Matthew 16:15-18 NLT
Jesus loves the church like a husband loves his bride and would give his life for her.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her fo himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
Ephesians 5:25-27 NIV
The role of the church is to use the gifts Christ has given it, and to prepare people for works of service to build up the church so that we all reach unity, knowledge of God, and maturity, and will not be tricked by wrong teaching.
Now these are the gifts Christ gave the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelist, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won't be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Ephesians 4:11-15 NLT
"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
How We Reach The Lost & Make a Difference:
Sunday Service
Serve on Team
Life Groups
Give
our church Vision
Abbey Life Church is a life-giving church existing to see people live their life on purpose, celebrating people following God, finding freedom, and living with purpose. We exist to share the good news of Jesus with those who have not yet heard, unchurched, de-churched and also to equip believers to make a difference.
Our Outreach
As we continue to reach people who are far from God, each one of us can do our part. As a church however, we have the great privilege of corporately focusing our efforts on reaching people in three key places designated by Jesus in our city, our nation, and our world by following these four principles:
1. Accept the personal RESPONSIBILITY .
2. Build a personal RELATIONSHIP .
3. Share your personal STORY .
4. Give a personal INVITATION .
How we share Christ with others:
“Go out into the country…and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.” LUKE 14:23 TLB
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8 NIV
In addition to our efforts during Sunday services, we are focused on reaching people in three key places designated by Jesus: Jesus calls us to reach people in our city, nation, and world.
City Outreach: Through Sunday services, Life Groups, and outreach programs (James 1:27 MSG)
1. "Jerusalem": Our cities.
The primary way we reach our towns/cities is through the local church where we provide relevant Sunday services, Life Groups, and various outreach activities.
“Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight.” JAMES 1:27 MSG
National Outreach: Planting and strengthening churches (Acts 16:4–5 MSG)
2. "In Judea and Samaria": Our nation.
The primary way we reach our nation is by starting new churches and strengthening existing ones and to help us do this, we partner with organisations like CCI (www.ccireland.ie/) and ARC Ireland (www.arcireland.org/)
ARC is a church-planting organization that started with two church plant. We support ARC today as it trains, coaches, and resources hundreds of new church plants across Ireland and abroad every year.
Learn more about ARC at arcchurches.com.
“As they traveled from town to town, they presented the simple guidelines the Jerusalem apostles and leaders had come up with. That turned out to be most helpful. Day after day the congregations became stronger in faith and larger in size.” ACTS 16:4–5 MSG
Global Outreach: Missions & supporting church planting worldwide (Mark 16:15 NCV)
3. "To the ends of the earth": Our world.
The main way we reach our world is through missions. At Abbey Life, we intentionally invest a portion of our resources in mission work around the world with a focus on unreached people groups, children, and church planting.
“Jesus said to His followers, ‘Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone.’” MARK 16:15 NCV
Our Church Structure
Abbey Life Church is structured for integrity, accountability, and spiritual authority.
Guided by Pastoral Lead Team - Led by Pastor Darren & Suzanne.
The Pastoral team is led by our Lead Pastors Darren and Suzanne Jennings. This team oversees the day-to day ministry and operations of the church. These pastors serve the congregation and are responsible for the development of the spiritual life of the church.
Protected by Trustees - Overseeing financial stewardship.
The Trustees are our board of directors, appointed by our Lead Pastors to oversee the finances and the stewarding of those finances toward the ministry of the church. They provide counsel to the Lead Pastors regarding the major financial commitments of the church and serve as the legal board of administrators.
Strengthened by Overseers - Providing spiritual guidance and accountability.
The overseers are pastors of respected congregations who love Abbey Life Church and are willing to provide spiritual accountability and guidance to our Lead Pastors. They may be called upon to help in accountability matters relating to the Lead Pastors if requested to do so by the Pastoral Staff or Trustees. They also speak into the life, vision, and health of our church.
Our Finances
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do," says the Lord of Heaven's Armies, "I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!" Malachi 3:10 NLT
At Abbey LifeChurch we support Christ's body, the church, through the practice of tithing. We recognize that the biblical standard of giving 10% of our income is a principle God wants to bless. Giving is one of the central themes of the Bible, and Jesus talks more about this subject than prayer or heaven or hell. In accordance with the examples in the Bible, there are three ways we can give at Abbey LifeChurch.
Tithing (10%) - Honoring God with our income (Proverbs 3:9-10 NKJV)
1. Tithe
Tithing is giving the first 10% of our income to the local church. This is the primary way we acknowledge that God is first in our lives.
Honour the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10 NKJV
Offerings - Giving above the tithe (1 Timothy 6:18-19 NLT)
2. Offerings
An offering is giving over and above what we tithe. The Bible teaches that we are truly living when we give generously.
Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 NLT
Gift of Giving - A spiritual gift (Romans 12:5 NLT)
3. The Gift of Giving
The gift of giving is a Spiritual gift given to some people who desire to serve God by giving of their God given material resources, far beyond their tithe, to further God's work.
If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. Romans 12:5 NLT
Many people love to give to God financially and want to have confidence in the organisation through which they give. At Abbey Life Church, we want people to understand that they are giving to God through the church, not to the church. Therefore, we want people to feel free to focus on what God is calling them to give and trust that God is leading our church to steward all finance well through transparent and honest financial practices. Giving of tithes and offerings is an act of worship to God and an expression of the relationship between the giver and the Lord.
We are committed to financial integrity, full accountability, and the transparent stewardship of our finances. Our board of trustees reviews financial reports quarterly including all income and expenses.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Our beliefs and approach to doctrine
can be described as...
Rooted in orthodoxy in that we affirm the historic declarations and creeds of the Christian faith. These are the basic truths that all Christians have confessed and held to for centuries.
Bible-Based & Christ-centered in that we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, salvation is the gift of God through faith in Jesus Christ, and our response to the Gospel should produce a life of holiness and personal witness to our faith.
Spirit-led in that we believe in and embrace the continuing presence and work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and gatherings. We seek the direction of the Holy Spirit for the vision and mission of our church. This statement captures our heart and approach to doctrine as we embrace unity in the midst of diversity:
“In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity..”
RUPERTUS MELDENIUS | 17TH CENTURY GERMAN THEOLOGIAN#
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe in:
The one true God who lives eternally in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.
The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God – fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.
The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – born of the Virgin Mary, truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruit of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers – given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.
